I got an 8 in IGCSE maths?! An 8 in English Language, a 6 in English Literature, plus a 5 in sociology from a past exam and 3 (one mark from a 4 in the biology exam I took before my Dyslexia test).
Jazakallahu khairun to my teachers who helped me get this far in my homeschool journey (name dropping the blog) and Jazakallahu khairun to my mum, my sister and my aunts who helped me study and revise.
Despite my good grade in maths I still don’t like the subject ๐๐, Sorry Uncle Laith.
We Tried
You’d think after yesterday we wouldn’t trust English food right?
Wrong.
Today Mum made fish for dinner, with just salt and pepper. She of course added a bit of paprika to add a bit of flavour but it didn’t work. Looking at it, it didn’t look like much as I’m used to seeing fish coated in red tandoori masala or all-purpose seasoning. I had a bit and thought it didn’t taste of anything but I didn’t say anything.
Last time I said something negative about the food my mum started saying I am so quick to criticise other people and stuff.
Anywho so I quietly ate the food until mum lists the ingredients to us and we’re like no wonder it’s so bland!
Mum then attempted to eat it and decided that she had to add some flavour to it to make it edible.
So now we know Asians like flavour and English food doesn’t cut it.
8 Hours Sleep?
A way better sleeping article than what I did for my English Homework, should I send it to my teacher?

Actually its pretty true, because my handwriting is messy but I do partially use joined up which I learned through a calligraphy class which is similar to the way I speak, I use normal English but then as I speak I slip into slang, different accents and different languages which I learnt from books and TV, that’s pretty cool.
If you are wondering @HZA and KD, yes I copied and pasted this from the lesson we just had and edited it.
I noticed something
I’ve mentioned before that I watch Subtitled Anime not dub. I’ve also mentioned that I read manga. Earlier this year I watched this really old shoujo anime called Kodocha. I really enjoyed it but it ended on episode 102 leaving me wanting more so I’m reading the manga (from the beginning because I don’t want to miss details that may have been left out from the anime), the version of the manga I’m reading is not great because it’s not fully translated into English but I’m surviving.
Anyway I’ve realised that even though I watched the anime in Japanese I’m remembering the characters voice in English. I don’t know how to explain it but as the character Hayama Akito talks between the panels I’m hearing his voices in English but I’ve never seen a dubbed version of the anime.
Does that make sense? Anyone got an explanation? Is my inability to watch dubbed anime because they don’t fit the imaginary English voices in my head?
Tell me your thoughts in the comments and if you think I’m crazy keep it to yourself.
Books we use – English
We have yet to find a single English book that is comprehensive enough to use. Both H and M use a variety of books for English โ and we often forget which one weโve used and when. Any suggestions will be warmly welcomed!
Both girls use Collins Spelling and Grammar and Punctuation books, which provide a good basic understanding of the English language with age-appropriate activities inside. I will insha Allah provide a โlook-insideโ section in this blog, which is something you rarely find on the websites of the relevant books, and it should help you in making a decision about which book you think is best for your child/children.
For other topics in English, both girls use Collins Focus on Writing which is very good to develop a childโs writing skills. It usually contains an extract from a well-known story, along with questions related to the extract and furtherโฆ
